Marcus Eriksen and Anna Cummings from 5 Gyres instigated this year’s research in all five gyres looking for plastic in the marine environment. This means going to the North Pacific, South Pacific, North Atlantic, South Atlantic and the Indian Ocean. Working closely with Algalita Marine Research Foundation and teaming up with Pangaea Voyages, this initiative has become a reality.
